Doing a comic-book sort of style thing for fun at the moment. I'm rubbish at it, so it'll probably end up as a more regular digital painting. Fun to try though, I'd love to get good at comic style drawing and inking.
One of the best movie bad guys ever. Sharp-suited, classically educated thief Hans Gruber as played by Alan Rickman. For the Caricaturama 3000 weekly comp ;)
I was thinking about painting an Orson Welles pic in oils based on my sketch a couple of posts ago, so I just did this really quick colour sketch (10 mins or so). Rather than paint the sketch, I just had it open and used it as reference and painted really fast onto a black background, trying to push the exaggeration a bit further at the same time.
Tomorrow would have been Orson Welles birthday, as Derren Brown's blog reminded me today. I watched Citizen Kane and the Arena documentary on the great man a couple of days ago and both were just as good as I remembered. Here's to you Orson :)
You can now buy this caricature (titled Orsoniac!) as a t-shirt here.
Here's a recent gift caricature that was a lot of fun - this couple just got married and the customer wanted them drawn in their stag/hen party outfits (him dressed as Bruno and her in a dress made of Haribo packets!). Brilliant, love doing fun stuff like this ;)
