Schoolism final assignment - Robert Downey Jr as Sherlock Holmes

Well this is my final piece for Jason Seiler's caricature course. I chose to do RDJ as Sherlock Holmes because I thought it would be a good portfolio piece for the future as the film isn't out until Xmas, and because RDJ is very difficult to caricature I think. I am really pleased with the final painting, I think it's as good as I can do right now. Below are some of the reference and sketches I did along the way:

Megan Fox - finished painting

This was fun! Enjoyed getting the eyes and hair looking sharp. Also I put a very faint texture over the top in Photoshop to smooth it out a bit.

Needed a break from drawing middle-aged men so decided to do a quick(ish) sketch of Megan Fox... :)

Robin Ince

This is probably my first real actual serious illustration-type commission! It's for Robin Ince (a brilliant comedian) and he had a quite specific idea which I tried hard to capture. I'm pleased with it but it has shown that I need to improve in a lot of areas. Chuffed to even be asked to do it to be honest, it's a big confidence booster!
