Bleeding heart liberal

That's the title of Robin Ince's stand up comedy tour, which I'm going to see next Tuesday. Hopefully I'll get the chance to give him a copy of this caricature, I think it came out pretty well.

I had so many ideas for this, it's based on a promo photo for the tour and in the photo he has a huge sticking plaster over his heart. First I thought about giving him a big heart tattoo instead, then maybe a couple of arrows stuck in his chest - in the end I've kept it really simple and put a "WWRD?" - What Would Richard (Dawkins) Do? badge on his shirt. Robin is a vocal atheist just like Dawkins (and me) :)

Well it's been an interesting week - I was made redundant on Tuesday, so I've been recovering from that for a few days. Have to look on it as a great opportunity to do what I've wanted to for a long time, so I have plans and I'm very positive.

On the same day I got a commission to do this Jack Nicholson Joker piece, which was great fun and hopefully there will be more Batman characters to come. Funny how things work out!

'The Old Man'

Battlestar Galactica ends on Tuesday (here in the UK) - what a great TV show that was. Here's a relatively fast sketch, about an hour, hour and a half maybe. Really pleased with it as I haven't sketched anything for ages.

Watchmen

Here's a piece I've just managed to get done before the film opens - Watchmen. Squeezing six people into one picture was tough, and the composition is pretty awful, but it doesn't look too bad. Not a great piece but I learnt from it, which is a good thing :)
